Teacher's Lounge

We are in this together!

Dear K4J Educators,

We are very happy to offer this way for you to post your "best practices"! The "Teachers' Lounge" is a place for you to submit your great ideas to share with others. Virtue education plays a key role in forming children. K4J is here to help you accomplish your goal to understand and reach each child and help them succeed so they can know, love and share their faith and experience of Jesus.

Please Contact Us to submit an idea to share with others!  Take a look below at some ideas submitted by educators.

 In Christ,

Here are some pointers turned in by K4J educators:

  • Say the K4J Pledge every morning as part of Morning Prayer. The kids really start to believe they can change the world!
  •  Use some parent volunteers. (Room moms can become K4J Moms) to make the monthly bulletin board found in Motivate 101.
  • If you have the bulletin board up, it really helps.  I refer to the mission on the board before during and/or after prayer.  It helps us to focus on the “Mission of the Month” and keeps us motivated.  Parents are impressed because it makes the room look attractive and shows our Catholicity
  • Parents like to help with the monthly K4J Surprise.  I just give them a copy of them out of my eguidebook and they schedule a time to come in the classroom.
  • Using the e-Guidebook lesson called “Send it Home” to teach the “Mission of the Month” only takes a few minutes and gives the kids a chance to get  excited by doing a motivating activity with the Mission before taking it home.   This is the key intrinsic means of getting the children and families involved.
  •  Take advantage of the K4J “Live it at School” section of the e-Guidebook: It helps to reinforce the virtue and takes no extra time from your busy day. It reinforces a classroom behavior you are already trying to accomplish through a motivating act.
  • Communicate with parents:  Ask for a note or email back from parents  letting you know they have received the” Parent’s Perspective" and the "Mssion Card".  Reward the kids who follow through with K4J Bucks. This extrinsic means of getting the parents involved is also helpful.
  •  Use Motivate 101 which includes: monthly bulletin board; extra fun ideas; scripture scholar verse; and the Holy Hero.
  •  At appropriate times play the K4J music.  The kids love it and the messages       are deeply ingrained. I like Sacrament Stomp and I play Body and Blood before we go to Mass.
  • Include an extra K4J Surprise once in a while.  Kids get excited when they see K4J on your schedule.
  •  "The Great K4J Educator” card can really help: take a few minutes to read it and refer to it for great spiritual motivation.  It is practical too.
